| | PQPs from credit card spending | | by Kyle Olsen, Points & Miles Reporter | |  | United Airlines has changed how Premier qualifying points are credited from cobranded Chase credit card spending. Starting Jan. 1, 2024, cardholders will earn 25 PQPs per $500 spent on eligible cobranded United credit cards. The PQP bonus deposits will now be earned every $500 instead of every $12,000, making it easier to accumulate PQPs.
Also changing, the United Club Infinite Card will offer up to 10,000 PQPs from qualifying purchases, increasing from 8,000 PQPs in 2023. To earn the full 10,000 PQPs, cardholders would need to spend $200,000 on the United Club Infinite Card.
Other United credit cards, such as the United Explorer Card, United Business Card and United Quest Card, have not changed their maximum PQP earning limits.
There is a cap of 15,000 PQPs per MileagePlus account in a calendar year for eligible card spending when holding multiple MileagePlus credit cards. However, in 2024, this restriction will be removed, allowing spending to be distributed across multiple United credit cards without a universal cap. Each card will still have its own specific cap for earning PQPs.
And there's one more positive change. Previously, card-earned PQPs did not count toward Premier 1K status unless the Premier qualifying flight requirement was also met. However, starting next year, all card-earned PQPs will count toward each status level, including the PQP-only requirement for Premier 1K status.
If you're going for United status next year, now is a perfect time to apply for a United card, so you can start earning PQPs next year.
