| Helpful planning tools | by Tanner Saunders, Senior Hotels Reporter | | | It's 2024! Do you have any trips booked yet? If not, today's a good day to take a look at some of our handy resources to help you plan a trip and stretch your hard-earned dollars further.
For me, most trips start by toying around on Google Flights to see different flight options for the destination I'm interested in visiting. The powerful tool can really help you save, and last year, Google introduced even more features to help with trip planning.
Another way to save big is by booking flights with points and miles — and almost always, the best redemptions are found by transferring points out of programs like American Express Membership Rewards to a partner airline with good deals. Last year, I ended up booking multiple flights by transferring points from Amex to Flying Blue, KLM and Air France's loyalty program, which helped me score a business-class flight from Paris to New York City for less than 60,000 points.
And it's not just for flights. You can transfer points to hotel loyalty programs, too. Luckily, we have a complete guide to airline and hotel transfer partners for the major credit card programs.
Or, if you really need a refresher on all the best ways to book a trip in 2024, bookmark our list of essential travel tips, and you'll be traveling like a pro in no time.
