| Booking hotels with points and miles | by Tanner Saunders, Senior Hotels Reporter | | | For my last hotel stay of 2023 and first of 2024, my fiance and I transferred about 60,000 points from Chase Ultimate Rewards to World of Hyatt for a three-night stay at the Thompson Nashville.
I've stayed at this great hotel before, but I am more partial to the neighboring W Nashville. But while planning a trip using points and miles, I typically try to book with Hyatt when I can because, for the most part, its award nights typically require significantly fewer points. Wouldn't you rather pay roughly 70,000 points for a three-night stay instead of 70,000 points per night?
But sometimes award nights aren't available, or a hotel isn't included in a loyalty program. That's when I turn to Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, which I can access with The Platinum Card® from American Express. With the card, I get up to a $200-a-year statement credit for booking through Fine Hotels + Resorts and other elitelike perks, including potential room upgrades and a $100 credit to use on the property.
Add those perks all up and you could easily save a good chunk of change on a luxury hotel stay without ever using points.
Now the question is, what exciting new hotels will I use my points or card perks to book this year?
