| Fly a friend for free | by Tarah Chieffi, Travel News Reporter | | | The Southwest Airlines Companion Pass unlocks BOGO flights and is super valuable since once you qualify, you can choose one person to fly with you for free (excluding taxes and fees) an unlimited number of times while you have the pass, regardless of whether you pay for your ticket with cash or points.
But it's also usually pretty tough to earn, with a requirement of 100 qualifying one-way flights or 135,000 qualifying points in a calendar year — but right now, there's another, much easier way.
All three of the personal Southwest credit cards currently have a limited-time welcome offer that can help you earn a Companion Pass plus 30,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards points after you spend $4,000 within the first three months from account opening.
If you get this offer, a friend, family member or casual acquaintance (hey, you do you) can fly with you for free every time you fly Southwest through Feb. 28, 2025.
Whether you go for the $69-annual-fee Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card, the $99-annual-fee Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card or the $149-annual-fee Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card, you could earn this offer. This is in addition to the 30,000 bonus points you'll earn, which are worth $420 based on TPG's current valuations.
This is a tremendous deal, so if you want to fly with a friend or family member for free until February 2025, make sure you get on board with this offer before it takes off.
