Top stories of the week by Cameron Sperance, Senior Hotels Reporter It's been another busy week in travel news. If you blinked, you probably missed a variety of tidbits and scoops on things that can change your next vacation. Have no fear: I'm here to round up the week's top travel news. It was a busy week for airlines: American Airlines added new Caribbean routes to Barbados while United Airlines added flights at its Dulles International Airport (IAD) hub outside of Washington, D.C., along with seasonal summer routes. Also, take note, Delta Air Lines loyalists: Medallion Qualification Mile conversion choices are now live — and can give you a boost to Medallion Qualification Dollar earnings this year amid the airline's higher spending thresholds to earn elite status. On the cruise front, you might be out of luck in finding options: Royal Caribbean Group's brands have half as many cabins available at the start of this year compared to a year ago. In other cruise news, riverboat cruise operator American Queen Voyages shut down after financial difficulties related to the pandemic were too great to overcome.
