| Benefits for authorized users | by Cameron Sperance, Senior Hotels Reporter | | | Adding authorized users to your credit card accounts requires a lot of trust. However, having someone as an authorized user on your account can have major benefits for you and them.
Lounge access and elite status
For starters, authorized users could get lounge access, depending on the card. This is true for both The Platinum Card® from American Express and the Capital One Venture X Business.
The Amex Platinum card also offers authorized users Gold elite status with both Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors, access to the Fine Hotels + Resorts booking platform and fee credit for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry (enrollment is required for select benefits).
Authorized users can also help hop the hurdle to Delta Air Lines' new Sky Club limits: You'll need to spend $75,000 annually to maintain unlimited visits to the Sky Club starting early next year, and authorized user spending can help hit that threshold. They'll also be able to enjoy unlimited visits, too.
Unlocking massive welcome offers
For business owners, adding authorized users to the Venture X Business can help you unlock its best-ever welcome offer: a 300,000-mile bonus that TPG values at $5,500 after you meet the spending requirements in the first six months of opening the account. You'll earn 150,000 miles once you spend $20,000 in the first three months and an additional 150,000 miles once you spend $100,000 in the first six months.
Best of all, you can add those employee cards for free!
Cardholders and up to two guests will also get access to the growing network of Capital One airport lounges.
