Happy 🌎 Day!

Reduce your environmental footprint by giving a product a second life.  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏

Celebrate Earth Day with us!

The eco-friendly items everyone should own go far past the crochet produce totes you're picturing — most of us are set on reusable bags. The best Earth Day-centric shopping actually involves sustainable swaps that simply replace items you use in your kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room on a daily basis. With them, you'll create less paper, plastic, and food waste without much of a habit change on your end.

Here are Senior Shopping Reporter Leah Stodart's favorite environment-conscious home products, all at varying price points to fit your budget:

Making the switch to bamboo toilet paper is a really easy eco move to make at home. Bamboo, a champion carbon sequester that's more of a grass than a tree,  can grow up to three feet in a day — without a ton of water or pesticides involved in the process. Reel isn't the only company that utilizes bamboo fibers to wipe, but it may just be the softest and most durable 3-ply bamboo TP on the market.

National Geographic estimates that a million plastic toothbrushes are thrown away each year, most of them heading to landfills, where they'll take around 500 years to decompose. Switching to an electric toothbrush isn't much better when you still have to throw away the old plastic heads — unless you're switching to a Suri electric toothbrush. Its replaceable brush heads are recyclable, and all you have to do is mail them back to Suri for free to do that recycling.

The Mill food recycler features a dehydrating system inside that holds and dries months' worth of discarded meat, fruits and veggies, snacks, and even dairy, turning it into food grounds. When it's full, you mail the box of grounds back to Mill, who repurposes them into chicken food. It's a subscription-based service that's on the pricey end, but it's easily been the investment that has had the biggest positive impact on my at-home habits.

Be conscious about the products you use and you can celebrate the Earth everyday.
