I basically hate summer without a dehumidifier

I used to think I didn’t need a dehumidifier, but these days it feels indispensable. Summers have gotten more intense where I live. And global warming isn’t just hot—it’s wet and sticky. Hotter air holds more water, and muggy heat means mold, headaches, higher energy use, and bad moods. I spent this past year steaming up my tiny bathroom to find the most effective, efficient, and reliable dehumidifier. Among more than a dozen, the best option I found is the Midea 20-Pint Cube—an ingenious device that nests the dehumidifier into its bucket for easy storage when it’s not in use. When I need it, I lift the dehumidifier, rotate it, and stack it over the bucket. It’s not flawless—I still have to be able to lift a 35-pound dehumidifier—but it’s quiet, it’s affordable, and I can monitor how full the water tank is using the app. It’s a small relief in a world that increasingly feels like an angry sauna.
